A Night Under the Stars (A Harry Potter OC story)

By: River Porter

Hazel's story starts a year after Albus Potter left Hogwarts.

I couldn’t sleep, my nightmares were worse tonight. I laid in my bed, staring at the ceiling, bored out of my mind. I got up to put on some warm clothes and left the common room. I walked through the halls in the dark, trying to avoid professors that were roaming the halls. I made it to the Astrology Tower and sat down on the floor and looked up at the stars. About 10 minutes later I hear a voice behind me.

“The stars are very pretty tonight,” Iris said with a smirk.

“Don’t scare me like that, Iris! I thought you were a teacher and I was going to get in trouble. How long have you been looking at the stars too?” I asked as she sat down.

“Oh, only for a few seconds, I then started to look at you. You look so pretty at night time when you look at the stars,” She told me as she said, leaning in as if she was about to kiss me. I blushed a little, but since this was my first time in a relationship, it was very obvious to her. She laughed a little and gave me a kiss on the cheek.

“Nightmares again? Scale?” Iris asked. I don’t know how she always knew. She's a Gryffindor and I’m a Slytherin. Someone has to be telling her that I’ve been having trouble sleeping at night.

“Yes, and 15,” I responded. She gave me a hug, which then turned into kisses all over my face, which turned into giggles from the both of us. Once we stopped, I looked her in the eyes, they looked like the clear sky, pretty and blue.

“I love you,” I blurted out, then we both realized what I just said. I really said it, for the first time ever, I told someone that I loved them. We were both in shock that I said that, my mind stopped working.

“H- Hazel, di- did you just?” Iris asked, still very in shock, thinking it would’ve taken me longer to say it because I grew up in a horrible adoptive family.

“I- I think I did,” I responded, my brain still slightly not working. How did I manage to say that? Iris looked at me, her face read ‘Can I give you a kiss?’. I kissed her, I love her so much, the weird feeling didn’t go away, the same feeling Angie described when she kissed Blake for the first time.

“I’m proud of you,” Iris told me, after breaking off the kiss and staring at me in the eyes. “But it’s also time to go to bed. Let’s go snuggle in mine tonight okay?”

“Alright, as long as you give me one of your waffles tomorrow,” I said, the waffles at the Gryffindor table taste better for some reason.

“Fine, now let’s go,” She said as she picked me up, carried me through the halls, and into the Gryffindor common room. We snuggled in her bed and I went to sleep.

“Good night Hazel,” Iris then kissed my head and slept. The next morning there was a note on the bed, ‘Getting ready for breakfast -Iris’.

“I heard what happened,” Angie said, as I turned around, she was smiling ear to ear. How many people has she told? Angie was in a chair, Blake was on the floor, arms around her waist, head resting in her lap, Angie was playing with his hair. From time to time she looked down at her sleeping boyfriend, then back at me.

“Did you tell anyone?” I asked, I was going to be slightly angry if she did.

“As much as I wanted to, I didn’t,” Angie responded.

“I made her not tell anyone, don’t worry.” Blake said, half asleep. Angie bent down and gently kissed his head.

“Thank you Blake. I don’t want to be looked at weirdly and get asked so many questions,” I responded. “Well I’m going to get ready for breakfast. I’ll meet you guys there?”

“Yes you will, my friend,” Angie said. “Come on Blake, time to go to breakfast.” Blake groaned and got up, he and Angie walked out of the room and I went into the laboratory and I got ready.

“Hey Hazel,” Iris said behind me as I walked out of the laboratory, she had a big smile on her face. ‘Can I have a hug?’ She held her arms out as I went in for a hug. She then picked me up and put me over her shoulder and left the common room and went to breakfast.
