Dance, Juneteenth Celebration & Expression Project

Tying into our continuing themes of personal identity & expression and building from earlier work that has cultivated the creative use of atypical performance elements, our Grades 7 & 12

dancers created short movement message statements about Juneteenth. Dancers drafted personal expressions & remembrances that summed up their individualized definition & experience of Juneteenth. This text was refined to become short spoken word pieces that the dancers then used as audio accompaniment for the matching movement phrases that they created to embody & illustrate their understanding of this cultural celebration. #Dance
