From sophomore Media Communications major Dariel Rosario and sophomore Visual Arts major Nevaeh Bellamy comes a collaborative comic of about a post-apocalyptic Earth in the far future where a parasite has started to take over and cause mutations in humans.
From the artists: Mutant Playground is a story based on the remains of Earth after a new parasite that infects anyone or thing it’s attached to, is discovered. The rich flee, leaving anyone with less behind. Over the course of 300 years, the world is divided into a primal-like society where humans are mutated into unrecognizable beings, all with unique and jarring features caused by their mutations and the world around them. Some have even acquired animal-like features over the years or look human with abilities like flying, speed, or night vision, and some remained unaffected. While the origin of the parasite remains unknown, it’s believed that it came from within the Earth and was released when a group of explorers brought home an ancient artifact from an island. Though the parasite has taken over, there are still some humans and half humans on earth, trying to restore order in society.
In the coming series, society takes place in the year 2315. We’ll meet 4 characters, Oscar, Walker, Angelo and Raphael. They team up to fight against a society called the Anti-Mutants whose main purpose is to rid Earth of any mutant-like being. Though the fight is hard, they grow stronger and more determined to protect and help each other.
